You may have noticed that interior design in recent years has tended to include more and more green, most often through house plants. Well, this color has proven to be more popular than ever in 2021, with Apartment Therapy reporting that searches for “green kitchen cabinets” are up 829% compared to the previous year, “green tile bathroom” and “green accent chair” are up 771% and 754% respectively, “artificial plants and trees” is up 658%, “green bedroom” is up 379%, and “indoor pots and planters” is up 358%.

Part of this might be related to Drew Barrymore’s sage green kitchen appliances and Kendall Jenner’s green kitchen cabinetry, which left many people green with envy when they revealed them this year.

The fashion trends for Fall/Winter 2020/2021 were announced a long time ago, when designers first presented them nearly a year ago. The collections arrived at the stores with the first cold days and we’re already enjoying them. One of the most popular colors this winter that comes in many different shades is green and it looks truly perfect for the season ahead of us.

Each winter, the collections come in rich, festive colors. Neutral colors are always popular, but the vibrant shades are what we love the most. When most of our outfits are neutral, it’s all about the details that give that much needed pop of color to cheer us up.

Earthy greens are the biggest hit for this winter. You’ll see hundreds of shades of green available across many different collections. From soft mint shades to rich olive and hues, they all look great in winter collections. Do they make us look like we matched outfits with a bunch of houseplants we acquired this year? Perhaps, but who says that’s a bad thing? Scroll down if you need some inspiration for wearing green this winter.

It used to be that bright colors were only worn in the fall, but if fashion’s taught us anything, it’s that rules don’t exist. Last year, slime green was seen in clothes and accessories throughout every season, but this year, a new shade of green is taking over—emerald green.

“Emerald or rich hues of green have been the dominating shade within fashion,” Libby Page, Senior Market Fashion Editor at Net-A-Porter told The Zoe Report. “It feels incredibly luxurious and fashion-forward. We’ve now come full circle … back to that luxurious attitude we all know and love.”

We even saw emerald green on the Fall 2020 runways, with Prada reintroducing the shade in accessories like emerald green tights, which they paired with multicolored loafers, and Lacoste featured the color paired with navies and whies in midi skirts and track bottoms.

Christopher John Rogers’ most recent collection showed how extravagant the color can be—just ask Lady Gaga who wore a skirt and top in emerald green to the VMAs from the collection.
