It used to be that bright colors were only worn in the fall, but if fashion’s taught us anything, it’s that rules don’t exist. Last year, slime green was seen in clothes and accessories throughout every season, but this year, a new shade of green is taking over—emerald green.

“Emerald or rich hues of green have been the dominating shade within fashion,” Libby Page, Senior Market Fashion Editor at Net-A-Porter told The Zoe Report. “It feels incredibly luxurious and fashion-forward. We’ve now come full circle … back to that luxurious attitude we all know and love.”

We even saw emerald green on the Fall 2020 runways, with Prada reintroducing the shade in accessories like emerald green tights, which they paired with multicolored loafers, and Lacoste featured the color paired with navies and whies in midi skirts and track bottoms.

Christopher John Rogers’ most recent collection showed how extravagant the color can be—just ask Lady Gaga who wore a skirt and top in emerald green to the VMAs from the collection.

On Instagram, we’re seeing emerald green in everything from chunky sweaters to monochromatic looks and it’s even making its way into gingham and animal print.
