]]>The last week of August was an eventful one in the music world. On August 27th Halsey dropped their anticipated fourth album titled If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. The latest record, which was produced by Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor, and Atticus Ross, centers on the extremities Halsey experienced in her personal life lately. More specifically, the concept of the album is “about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth,” according to the singer.
For Halsey, this album is both a homage to 1990s rock roots and a sort of pivot away from what we’ve heard from them up to this point. It was also an interesting moment for Reznor and Ross, who don’t often endeavor to produce whole albums for other artists. For them, it was a chance to work with a new voice and a fresh perspective. The result of this combination is “noisy, desolate, sometimes assaultive tracks that still resolve into neat verses, choruses, and hooks,” according to the New York Times.
Overall, the album is a profound dive into Halsey’s introspection and newfound motherhood, and it’s clear that it was a deeply meaningful project for the singer. One listener who couldn’t contain her excitement about it was Taylor Swift, who tweeted “I’m blown away by @halsey’s artistry and commitment to taking risks.” We couldn’t agree more.

This question has been on everyone’s mind for quite some time, but there are two main reasons why everyone’s trying to answer it at the start of 2021—the first is the launch of Jennifer Lopez’s own line JLo Beauty, which hit the shelves on January 1st. The singer managed to create a lot of buzz for her anti-aging skincare line with the viral video that shows her taking her makeup off. The products look lavish and carefully curated, but even with the star of Lopez’s caliber, this sounds like a story we’ve already heard before.
Halsey is another star who kicked 2021 off by deciding to dip her toes into the beauty pool, with the launch of her own brand About Face Beauty. Some of her fans welcomed the news with open arms, while others felt that it’s just a money grab because celebrities without signature makeup look shouldn’t have their own makeup lines.
At the end of the day, it’s up to you if to decide if celebrities are truly passionate about their beauty lines and deserve your hard-earned cash. 2021 probably won’t be the year when they stop launching new cosmetics brands, and if it seems like they did, it’s only because everyone from Selena Gomez to Millie Bobby Brown already has one.
