]]>We can always count on the stars attending the VMAs to impress us with some pretty interesting fashion choices and they’ve certainly delivered this year. From show-stopping sheer gowns to dazzling glittering looks, we’re bringing you three red carpet trends that stole the show at this ceremony.
See-through dresses have been ruling Hollywood for quite some time, and they’ve been going stronger than ever at the VMAs. We’ve seen everyone from Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, and Selena Gomez to Megan Thee Stallion, Tiffany Haddish, and Karol G put their own twist on the sheer trend.
Dresses with sparkly and glittering details were shining brighter than ever at the VMAs this year. Cardi B and Olivia Rodrigo have given us some of the ceremony’s most dazzling looks, followed by Shakira, Dove Cameron, Saweetie, and many more.
Black dresses with a twist have a habit of making their way into pretty much every major award show these days, and MTV VMAs were no exception. Taylor Swift, Dove Cameron, and Megan Thee Stallion put this trend on the map, but we’ve also spotted several edgy faux leather designs, worn by Demi Lovato, Bebe Rexha, Coco Jones, and Måneskin’s Victoria De Angelis.

]]>After a lot of anticipation, the MTV VMAs nominations are finally in, and Taylor Swift is leading the way with eight nods. It’s not a shocker to see her come on top, but this year’s MTV VMAs nominations brought several snubs and surprises our way that we didn’t see coming.
Genre nominations at MTV VMAs aren’t always easy to predict, with the exception of the best pop video. This year’s nominations, however, delivered several shockers, starting with Demi Lovato’s “Swine”.
Sam Smith and Kim Petras received several nominations for their collaboration “Uholy”, including video of the year and song of the year, so it’s quite a shocker to see that they’re not in the running for best collaboration.
Seeing “Unoloy” left out of the best collaboration category didn’t sting too much since many deserving songs made the cut, including “TQG” by Karol G and Shakira.
Blackpink’s “Pink Venom” was a K-pop song with the best chance to break into the major categories, but it failed to score nods for video and song of the year.
Beyoncé fully deserves to be in the running for artist of the year at MTV VMAs, but it’s pretty surprising to see her get her first nod for this award right now since she didn’t even release a new album this year.

]]>Another MTV VMAs are behind us and this year’s ceremony gave us more show-stopping looks than we can count. Here are five amazing red carpet trends that our favorite stars couldn’t resist at this awards show.
Dramatic black outfits were all the rage at this year’s MTV VMAs. The list of celebrities who showed up wearing this trend is pretty much endless, but we have to single out Lizzo, Lil Nas X, Sofia Carson, and members of Blackpink.
Silver accents were also going strong at MTV VMAs. Taylor Swift embraced this trend with her Oscar de la Renta mini dress, but so did Fergie, Chloe Bailey, and Shenseea.
Dramatic floral outfits were worn by several stars attending this year’s MTV VMAs including Sabrina Carpenter, Dove Cameron, and Dylan O’Brien.
If we had to pick the most surprising trend at this year’s ceremony, bright green outfits would make the cut. Ava Max, Latto, and Lauren Spencer Smith are among the celebrities who put this rising trend on the map.
Barbiecore is summer’s No. 1 fashion trend and it goes without saying it was present at MTV VMAs. Nicki Minaj is definitely its biggest fan, but Lizzo and Trina Njoroge also embraced it.

]]>The post “Naked Dresses” are Taking Over the Red Carpet appeared first on toppoptoday.com.
]]>Award seasons always deliver amazing trends and if there’s one we’ve seen at the past few red carpets it’s been “naked dresses”. These barely-there sheer dresses leave very little to the imagination and they’re super revealing. Between the MTV VMAs, Emmys, and the Met Gala, naked dresses are the hottest trend, and here are some of the many celebrities who’ve rocked it recently.
Zoë Kravitz’s Saint Laurent dress was one of the most divisive looks at the 2021 Met Gala as many thought it was just too revealing and that she was pretty much naked. She responded to the criticism on her Instagram writing, “Being uncomfortable with the human body is colonization/brainwashing,” Kravitz replied. “It’s just a body. We all got em,” before deleting all of her posts.
Megan Fox wore this sheer Mugler midi dress with subtle embroidery and a thong underneath to the 2021 MTV VMAs making a bold statement on the red carpet.
Out of the sea of many naked dresses at the 2021 Met Gala, Kendall Jenner wore it best out of everyone with this classy Givenchy crystal-embellished one.
Issa Rae wore a mesh, metallic shift dress from Aliétte which was made of chain mail-like fabric and featured a black bodysuit, underneath, showing just the right amount of skin to the 2021 Emmys.
Ciara wore this black lace Tom Ford dress to the 2021 MTV VMAs, which is a different more lingerie-inspired take on the naked dress.

]]>The MTV VMAs happened on September 12 and tons of celebrities graced the red carpet. Amongst the sea of dresses and suits, two colors ruled the awards show—pink and purple. That’s right—there was a ton of pink and purple on the red carpet and each star wore it a bit differently. Check out the best pink and purple looks of the night.
The country singer’s look was all about the hat and this feathered purple one packed quite the statement. The best part was it matched her silk purple mini dress by Valentino Haute Couture. How can you now love the red gloves?
The host of the night, Doja Cat looked like a goth princess in this daringly short toga-inspired Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood with a black bustier and drapey plum fabric. The red platform heels really stepped up the drama.
Olivia Rodrigo was the big winner of the night with three awards and she turned heads in this strapless Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2001 Haute Couture mermaid dress that featured layers of magenta tulle over a coral sating lining, making the dress look hot pink. In true Y2K fashion, she completed the look with butterfly earrings.
Lil Nas X wore a dreamy lavender Atelier Versace suit that screamed Prince. The bedazzled jacket was draped over his shoulder, revealing his toned chest and the fabric gathered on one hip, flowing off the side into an amazing train. He completed the look with butterfly earrings and matching rings.
The Cinderella star showed that no dress is complete without a giant bow and this satin Alexis Mabille Couture gown combines pink and red, which use to be a fashion taboo.

]]>Although the VMAs looked different than they did in past years, the red carpet looks didn’t disappoint. For a second, we actually forgot we were in the midst of a pandemic (besides for seeing Lady Gaga’s amazing face masks). Celebrities were inspired by the ’90s, and the beauty looks in particular. These were the best ’90s-inspired beauty looks from the night.
The host of the night had many amazing outfit changes throughout the ceremony, but her opening look was totally ’90s with her hair slicked back in a french-roll updo with face-framing tendrils. To complete the look, she paired it with a choker—does it get more ’90s than that?
Grande took the stage with Lady Gaga for an epic “Rain on Me” performance in Baby Spice inspired high pigtail ponytails wearing bold graphic eyeliner and shimmery eye shadow.
The model presented in a edgy beauty look featuring a messy bun with face-framing bands, thick black eyeliner, and glowy makeup.
Between the ’90s ponytail and blunt side bangs, the singer’s hair is totally ’90s, which looked flawless paired with her edgy outfit and metallic french-tip manicure.
