The pandemic didn’t only shape the way we’ve lived this past year, it also affected the way we shop. The dramatic rise in e-commerce amid movement restrictions induced by COVID-19, increased online retail sales. Etsy shops, in particular, enjoyed a steady rise in sales, with shoppers looking for a more mindful shopping experience by shopping small and supporting online creators.

Hopefully, as we return to a new normal, we can still stick to some of these more sustainable practices. Here at Top Pop Today, we hope to inspire you to shop from smaller brands, by introducing you to the best Etsy shops out there. Our recent find: English stationary and accessories brand Bonbi Forest.

Run by artist, Illustrator, and “shiny things maker”, Lee Foster-Wilson, the brand celebrates the healing power of nature, by focusing on naturalistic themes and floral patterns. Based in the Cornish countryside of southwestern England, where she lives by the seaside, Foster-Wilson needs only to open her window to let the inspiration in.

“I am greatly inspired by the natural world and our relationship to it, how we place our human values onto animals and mother nature,” she shared with Ballpitmag. “Nature just does its thing no matter what, we are constantly trying to control it, yet unchecked it forges on.”

Natural motifs feature throughout her products: from enamel pins and pendants to postcards. Focusing mainly on stationary, Bonbi Forest is a real treat to both illustration lovers and nature enthusiasts. “My work focuses on motifs from nature, lots of brightly colored florals and animals,” says Foster-Wilson. “I love to use limited color palettes and keep my line hand-drawn and slightly on the naive, playful side.”

Add a dose of playfulness to your home (or purchase a piece for a friend) by heading to Bonbi Forest‘s online shop.

A recent New York Time’s article hailed 2021 as “the year of the wedding after-party”. “If 2020 was the year of the Zoom wedding, 2021 promises to be a year of after-parties”, read the opening paragraph. After a year of lockdown, couples are looking to splurge on that extra special event. But splurging doesn’t have to be tasteless. Investing in a wedding invitation (which also serves as a great memento) is a great way of adding a tasteful touch to your wedding day (or after-party).

Blush & Blossom might just inspire you. A Yorkshire-based stationery and design studio that also runs a charming Etsy shop, they offer a wide range of graphic design services – of which, most notably, are their trendy wedding invitations. Themes include retro vibes, bohemian dreams, and elegant greenery.

As well as “save the dates” and invitations, on-the-day stationery is also available for each collection, which includes items such as welcome signs, table plans, name cards, menus, and table numbers. Further bespoke items can also be requested and designed to match.

The brand also an emphasis on sustainability, as brand owner Emma Fisher stresses that all card used among her products is FSC certified; meaning that the materials have been ethically sourced from well-managed and sustainable forests.

“I’ve always loved graphic design, and having worked in the industry for over 10 years I’ve built up experience in design, print production, as well as communications and trends,” Fisher told Printed. “I’ve always loved doing my own unique prints, cards, and wedding stationery for friends and that’s when Blush & Blossom was born.”

In fact, it was after designing a few of her friends’ wedding invitations that Fisher realized she needed to take a leap of faith and open her own business.

If you’re planning your wedding day and stuck for inspiration for invites, keep scrolling to see some of Fisher’s selected designs. You’re also invited to visit her website.

Whether you’re still in school or not, new stationery is something you can look forward to every September. Office supplies get cuter year after year and more and more stores offer their collections. If you want to look fashionable in school or at work, or simply love cute stationery that you can use in your home office, high-street brands have everything you need.

For a while, it seemed like digitalization will make pen and paper redundant. We went through a smartphone craze with a focus on minimalism, and it seemed so convenient to have everything in the phone, organized per personal preferences.

But eventually, it turned out that nothing can really replace the feeling of being surrounded with colorful pens and using them to write in a brand new, adorable planner. There’s something about using a physical planner that makes you better organized and more focused at work and in personal life that it’s definitely worth splurging on a new one once a year and spicing it up with some much-needed accessories like stickers and paper clips.
