2020 has been an amazing year for television, so it’s pretty much impossible to include all the good shows and performances on the list of Emmy nominations. Here are a few snubs and surprises that left everyone puzzled.

Snub: Normal People

Paul Mescal scored an Emmy nod for his performance in Normal People, but his co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones deserved as much love. This romantic drama also failed to get a nod for outstanding limited series.

Surprise: The Mandalorian

The Emmy voters usually don’t go for fan-favorite sci-fi series, but even they couldn’t resist the power of the adorable Baby Yoda.

Snub: Better Call Saul

Better Call Saul received a nod for the best drama series, but its stars Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn weren’t recognized for delivering their best work to date this season.

Surprise: Euphoria

Zendaya had some pretty tough competition in the race for outstanding lead actress in a drama series. She managed to score the nomination over the likes of Nicole Kidman and Elisabeth Moss with her performance in Euphoria.

Snub: Big Little Lies

The first season of Big Little Lies was a huge hit with Emmy voters, but Laura Dern and Meryl Streep were the only stars of this show who managed to score nominations this year.

Surprise: What We Do in the Shadows

The outstanding comedy series nominations list featured some obvious choices and several wild cards, but a nod for the vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows was something that no one saw coming.
