The nominations for the upcoming Critics’ Choice TV Awards are finally in, with The Morning Show and Succession leading the way. The list of contenders at this ceremony will be pretty impressive, but it still brought several notable subs and surprises our way.

Snub: No Love for Yellowjackets

Genre shows often struggle to win over the critics, and that was certainly the case with the most recent seasons of Yellowjackets, which only received one nomination.

Surprise: Loki Love

Despite the critics’ dismay of genre shows, Disney’s Loki managed to break through and scored four nominations, including the coveted best drama series nod.

Snub: Brian Cox for Best Actor (Drama Series)

Two Succession stars received nominations for the best actor in a drama series, but Brian Cox wasn’t one of them.

Surprise: Ramón Rodríguez for Best Actor (Drama Series)

Brian Cox’s omission is especially surprising when you take into consideration that Ramón Rodríguez received a nod in the best actor category for his role in ABC’s overlooked drama Will Trent.

Snub: Only Murders in the Building

It was quite a shocker to see Only Murders in the Building miss out on the best comedy nomination and only get two nods thanks to Steve Martin and Meryl Streep.

Surprise: Justified: City Primeval

If you haven’t seen Justified: City Primeval, you’re not alone, but that didn’t stop its stars Timothy Olyphant and Aunjanue Ellis from getting acting nominations for their performances in this series.
