4 Of September’s Most Anticipated Movies

Autumn is here and you know what that means. The ramp-up to next year’s Oscars begins. In other words, a few very buzzed-up movies are about to be released. Here is the rundown of some of the upcoming month’s most anticipated releases.

The Card Counter

William (Oscar Isaac) is a veteran haunted by his past and passes his time traveling the country playing blackjack and poker, sometimes in tournaments. His routine falls apart when he meets Cirk, an angry young man seeking help to execute his revenge plan on a military colonel.

Azor

This tense thriller is set in 1980 when a Swiss private banker named Yvan (Fabrizio Rongione) and his wife Ines (Stéphanie Cléau) arrive in Buenos Aires from Geneva for a series of meetings, following the disappearance of one of Yvan’s clients.

The Eyes of Tammy Faye

This movie focuses on the true story of Tammy Faye Baker (played by Jessica Chastain) and her husband televangelist Jim Bakker (Andrew Garfield). The couple lost their business empire after a series of crimes and scandals were unveiled.

Birds of Paradise

Based on AK Smalls’s 2019 novel Bright Burning Stars, this movie tells the story of Kate (Diana Silvers), an aspiring ballet dancer who arrives in Paris to study at an elite dance academy. There she meets fellow dancer Marine (Kristine Froseth), with whom she develops an intense relationship, which is fraught by the school’s highly competitive atmosphere.
