Foraging is the Latest Foodie Trend

Foraging—gathering food in the wild—is nothing new, yet it’s one of the latest foodie trends. Given that many of us used this year to get back in touch with nature, it’s not surprising that foraging emerged as one of the top trends related to food. There are several reasons why people decide to forage for food and these are the most common ones.

It’s Free

Foraging is free and that’s one of its main benefits for many people. For some, it’s the only way to survive. If you know where to look, you can gather plenty of healthy fruits, herbs, and spices that taste better than the ones you can buy in the supermarket. Even some fancy restaurants rely on foraging when they want to get the most out of the herbs and spices they use in their meals.

It’s Self-Sufficient

We’re already seeing the importance of finding alternative ways to get food and foraging and having your own garden are just some of them. This will move us away from consumerist behavior that became normal in the past few decades.

It’s Fun

Learning more about nature and what it has to offer can be fun for the whole family. Spending a day in nature and coming home with some natural food is a perfect family adventure and will teach your kids the importance of respecting nature.
