Jacksonville Jaguars’ struggling defense is set to receive a significant boost. Veteran defensive end Aaron Lynch decided to come out of retirement and is expected to join the Jags for the remainder of the season.

Lynch signed a deal with Jags during the offseason but decided to retire from football before even suiting up for the franchise.  The 27-year-old player said that he was retiring for personal reasons at the time.

Jags confirmed Lynch’s return to football on their official social media.

Having Lynch back should prove helpful for Jags’ defense, especially since the team lost multiple starters due to opt-outs or injuries in recent weeks.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, Aaron Lynch will have to wait five days before being allowed to join the rest of the team. This will cause Lynch to miss the upcoming game against Los Angeles Chargers, setting him up for 2020 debut against Houston Texans next month.

Lynch previously played 73 games (22 starts) with San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears. He has 105 career tackles and 20.0 sacks to go with 63 QB hits and 10 pass deflections.
