After Collaborating with Many Big Names, Yebba Drops Her Debut Album

Even if the name Yebba doesn’t sound familiar to you now, that is bound to change very soon. The 26-year-old musician has emerged as one of the most sought-after performers in the music industry, collaborating with everyone from Ed Sheeran to Drake.

Born Abbey Smith, the singer first gained recognition in September 2016 when her performance of the song “My Mind” at a Sofar Sounds presentation went viral on YouTube. On September 10, Yebba released her debut album titled Dawn, after her late-night writing sessions in her bedroom.

The 12 track album features collaborations with the likes of A$AP Rocky, James Frances, and Questlove. She also worked closely with producer Mark Ronson, who shared a heartfelt post about his appreciation of her. “This is one of the most gorgeous, heartbreaking, perfect vocals I’ve ever recorded,” he wrote of the lead track, “October Sky.”

And he isn’t the only one moved by Dawn. The album has been praised by critics at the New York Times, the Rolling Stone and the list goes on. Her wide vocal range and storytelling abilities definitely make Dawn a special work of art. And we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this rising star.
