The sci-fi classic Alien inspired several sequels and spin-offs, and its universe is constantly expanding. FX and Hulu are planning to usher in a new era for this beloved sci-fi franchise with Noah Hawley’s upcoming series, and here’s everything we know about it so far.

Creative Team

If you tend to be skeptical about prequels and spin-offs, you’ll be happy to hear this series is in safe hands. Its writer/director Noah Hawley is best known as the creator of the FX anthology series Fargo, but he explored complex sci-fi storylines during his work on Legion.

Plot Details

At this point, we only know that Hawley’s series will be set three decades before the events of the original Alien film from 1979 starring Sigourney Weaver. It will take place on Earth and center on Wendy, a character with the body of an adult and the consciousness of a child.

Cast

Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling) will lead the series as Wendy, while the rest of the cast will include Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, Timothy Olyphant, and David Rysdahl.

Release Date

The Alien series will resume production in Thailand in January, and it will keep shooting until July. It still doesn’t have an official release date, but it’s expected to premiere in 2025.
