As we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath and slowly return to our former workplaces, there’s one thing we shouldn’t gloss over: how we present ourselves. A clean manicure is a great, and relatively easy way, to freshen up your look and present a more professional front.
But looking professional doesn’t necessarily mean sporting boring nails. With summer around the bend, you might want to add a pop of color to your beauty routine. Nail artist Betina Goldstein will inspire you to take care of your nails, if anything. Based in Los Angeles, Goldstein is a full-time editorial and campaign nail artist, with clients that include megastars like Billie Eilish, Zoë Kravitz, and Bella Hadid.
“I love designs that challenge me and really require a lot of tiny details and a lot of patience,” Goldstein remarked once in an interview with Elle. Her attention to detail is noticeable when scrolling through her Instagram page. Goldstein often includes behind-the-scenes videos of her manicures, which provide great content in and of themselves.
Her styles vary—anything from a deep dark red nail polish to more embellished nails that aren’t for the faint of heart. “I focus on designs that are more contemporary and they have intricate detail and dimension, but don’t necessarily overwhelm your nails,” she explained.
“It’s all about the placement of the nail art,” says Goldstein. “It’s really minimal. At the same time, some of my nail designs are really out there: I’ll do chains on the nails—but with a sheer base.” For her more out-there designs, she includes craft store-bought materials.
