TikTok heavily influenced Billboard charts over the years, and the masterminds behind this popular music magazine decided to do something about it. Billboard just introduced a brand-new TikTok Billboard Top 50 Chart, which tracks the music from the popular social media platform.

This newly-introduced chart will monitor the popularity of music on TikTok, and it’s based on a combination of creations, video views, and user engagement by the TikTok community in the United States.

TikTok Billboard Top 50 Chart will be released weekly every Thursday, and the inaugural chart was topped by S—- Red’s viral hit “SkeeYee”. Doja Cat’s Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper “Paint the Town Red” hit No. 2 followed by Taylor Swift’ “August”, “Go!” by Greg Cipes, Scott Menville, Khary Payton, Tara Strong, Hynden Walch, and “I Remember Everything” by Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves.

Mike Van, the president of Billboard, said they’re thrilled to introduce this new chart because no song is truly No. 1 until it’s No. 1 on one of the Billboard charts.

“At Billboard, we are constantly evolving our charts to reflect how fans engage with music and connect them more deeply with the artists they love. We see a clear opportunity to recognize the way music discovery on TikTok is shaping popular culture,” said Van in a statement.
