This past weekend, celebrities graced the silver carpet at the 26th Annual SAG Awards. One trend we weren’t expecting to see was the return of the black dress.

Black dresses are timeless, elegant, and classy and the ones the stars wore at this award ceremony were anything but boring. The gowns may have been black, but the attention to detail is what made these stars stand out in a crowd of bright dresses.

Reese Witherspoon

Alright, so Witherspoon’s Celine dress by designer Heidi Slimane isn’t the usual take on a black dress, as it has crystals and black sequin, but for all intents and purposes, it’s a black dress. The Big Little Lies star wore the one-shoulder gown with some amazing matching strappy silver and black Celine heels.

Joey King

This dress isn’t quite as fashion-forward as the Iris Van Harpen optical illusion gown King wore to the Golden Globes, but we still love this sultry take on a little black dress. The Act actress played up the edginess of the Jason Wu corset gown by pairing it with slicked-back hair and smokey eye shadows.

Jennifer Lopez

The Hustlers actress wore a stunning black off-the-shoulder satin Georges Hobeika gown that was reminiscent of Old Hollywood. However, the best part was the back of the dress, which had an oversized bow with two ribbons cascading behind her. Lopez finished off the look with a Tyler Ellis clutch with Swarovski crystals and over $9 million worth of Harry Winston diamond jewelry!
