Charli D’Amelio Becomes the First TikToker to Reach 100 Million Followers

Charli D’Amelio has made TikTok history. D’Amelio gained a huge fanbase on the platform with her viral dance videos and she’s the second-highest earner on the app after Addison Rae, making $4 million last year after posting on TikTok for the first time in June 2019.

Sixteen-year-old D’Amelio from Connecticut started off with dance videos and has become one of the biggest Generation Z influencers. In her videos, she often appears with her family including her older sister Dixie D’Amelio, who is also a TikTok star.

D’Amelio has made quite the name for herself appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, sitting front row at the Prada Fall 2020 runway show, landing a sponsorship deal with EOS cosmetics, becoming the new face of Hollister, starring in a SuperBowl commercial for Sabra hummus, and getting her own Dunkin’ drink.

To honor the milestone, TikTok announced that they will donate $100,000 in D’Amelio’s name to the American Dance Movement, an organization that improves and increases access to dance education in America. The TikTok star will announce more details about the “Charli D’Amelio Dance Grant” in a TikTok Livestream on December 1.

Charli D’Amelio posted her reaction on social media following the news tweeting, “I cannot believe there’s 100 million supporters following me right now.”
