#ClearTheList is Supporting Teachers Returning to School

Each year, teachers spend tons of their own money to get their classrooms ready for the new school year. This coming school year, things are going to look much different. Due to having to tighten safety procedures because of COVID-19, prices for school supplies will be higher than usual and the ClearTheList foundation is here to help.

The foundation allows school faculty and staff to create lists of much-needed materials that teachers, community members, family, and friends can purchase. In the past, teachers have requested colored pencils, Play-Doh, notebooks, and books, but this year, they’ll need to have plenty of PPEs including face masks, disinfectant spray, and hand sanitizers.

According to the Department of Education, the average teacher spends at least $479 of their own money on their classroom. This year, it won’t be possible for students to share supplies, so parents and teachers will have to spend more money for them.

The hashtag has gathered almost 20,000 posts on Instagram and the ClearTheList Foundation recently partnered with Clorox, which donated $1 million to the cause, and with Amazon.

Teachers all around the world have been posting the goods they’ve received from the initiative. We’re all in on a movement that helps out those in need during this difficult time and there’s no one more deserving than teachers.
