Lil Nas X’s first album takes its title from the rapper’s given name Montero Lamar Hill, but its release date is still a mystery. The recent album trailer simply states that Montero is “coming soon”, and industry insiders expect it will hit the shelves later this summer.

According to the trailer that Lil Nas X shared with his fans, Montero will feature three of his previously released songs—“Montero (Call Me by Your Name)”, “Holiday”, and “Sun Goes Down”. “Montero” created a lot of buzz for this album with its provocative music video and debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the rapper’s second no. 1 hit.
Coming-of-Age Story
When it comes to Lil Nas X’s vision for his first studio album, he discussed it during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. He said his entire life was leading up to this album, and that he wanted it to be honest and 100% him.
“I’m exploring my sexuality, my self. It’s a coming-of-age story. My heartbreaks, there’s been a lot of those. It’s everything. it’s something everyone can vibe along to,” explained the Grammy-winning artist.
