Star Wars spin-offs are the backbone of the original programming on Disney+, and the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is one of the most promising projects they announced so far. The more we learn about it, the more excited we are, and here’s everything you should know about this show.

Plot Line

The plot of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is still being kept under the wraps, but it is expected to take place ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith when Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat after Anakin Skywalker turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader.

Cast

Ewan McGregor is set to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi, but he won’t be the only one reprising his iconic Star Wars role. Hayden Christensen will make a comeback as Anakin Skywalker, while Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse are set to return as Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.

The rest of the cast will feature newcomers to the franchise: Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (Homeland), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Sung Kang (Fast & Furious), Simone Kessell (Reckoning) and Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems director).

Release Date

Obi-Wan Kenobi still doesn’t have an official release date, but it’s expected to start shooting this month. Deborah Chow, who previously helmed two episodes of The Mandalorian, is set to serve as the director of all six episodes.
