Everything You Should Know About Season 2 of “Bridgerton”

Jonathan Bailey as Anthony in "Bridgerton"

If we had to pick a single Netflix show that everyone was buzzing about since the beginning of 2021, it would certainly be Bridgerton. The renewal of this series for its second season didn’t come as a surprise to anyone, but what does the new chapter of this Regency-era period drama has in store?

Main Subject

The first season of Bridgerton centered on the courtship of the Duke and Duchess of Hastings, but the second one will switch gears. It’s expected to focus on the eldest Bridgerton sibling, Anthony, and it will draw inspiration from Julia Quinn’s book The Viscount Who Loved Me.

Cast and Characters

According to Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen, Anthony will have a new love interest in Season 2—most likely Kate Sheffield, the female lead of the original novel. He also confirmed that the new season will introduce a bunch of new characters, but we’ll still get to see many familiar faces.

Release Date

The new season of Bridgerton still doesn’t have an official release date, but the production is expected to start in late spring in London. Van Dusen expects it will be a six-month shoot, so it’s most likely we’ll get a new season in 2022.
