Fall 2020’s Going to Be All About Grunge

While flannels and chunky boots are nothing groundbreaking for fall, this year these pieces fit perfectly into the grunge aesthetic that you’ll be seeing everywhere in the next few months. True to the ’90s, grunge has fallen back into every fashionista’s closet over the past few years and this year grunge will be more popular than ever. Luxury brands like R13, Monse, and Burberry have styled grunge looks for the fall/winter 2020 runway.

Grunge is all about classic plaids, dark flannels, platform boots, chain chokers, and safety pins. We even saw Burberry mix two different flannel print in one outfit and pair them with bright, silky pieces like slip dresses and Kendall Jenner walked the runway in a plaid corset bodysuit with a girly, ruffled midi skirt.

Safety pins, chains, and belts are three accessories that you’ll want in your wardrobe to get the grunge look. If you’re just wearing a simple black suit, just add a chunky chain choker and an edgy belt will upgrade your look instantly.

Other looks to implement into your style are cropped and ripped flannels, buckled leather harnesses, and midi skirts in dark colors. When in doubt, leather is always a great option, especially when it’s paired with plaid. To complete the look, throw on some Dr. Martens or Converse.
