While 2019 was the year fast-food joints started offering plant-based alternatives on their menus, 2020 is shaping into the year fast-food restaurants will be taking a leap into the breakfast business.

Almost all fast-food chains are offering breakfast options—Wendy’s announced they will unveil a breakfast menu on March 2nd, Burger King is testing a Breakfast Croissan’wich, McDonald’s is upgrading their McGriddle to include a chicken version, Dunkin’ Donuts is working with Beyond Meat on a plant-based breakfast sandwich, and IHOP is releasing a fast-casual restaurant called Flip’d which will serve pancakes to people on the go.

Panera Bread is also trying to hone in on the breakfast food trend, and they just announced that for $8.99 a month customers can get unlimited hot or iced coffee and tea in all stores nationwide. The company’s chief executive Niren Chaudhary called the concept “the democratization of coffee.”

On Wendy’s new breakfast menu, you can look forward to nine breakfast options and drinks like Breakfast Potatoes, the Breakfast Bacaoantor, croissant sandwich, and a Frosty-ccino.
