Lady Gaga is set to make her return to the big screen later this year in House of Gucci and we can’t wait to see her in her first film since 2018’s A Star Is Born. This is also Adam Driver’s return to film as he hasn’t been in any new products since 2019. The biographical crime drama from director Ridley Scott has been in the works for over a decade and we’ve already had a glance at some photos, movie posters, and a trailer has been released. Here’s what we know about the upcoming film.
Backstory
The film’s based on the novel The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden, and it follows the events leading up to and after the murder of Gucci family heir Maurizio Gucci by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. The couple wed in 1973 and had two daughters, Allegra and Alessandra. In 1984, Maurizio left his wife for a younger woman and the pair divorced six years later. In 1995, Maurizio was shot by a hitman and two years later, his ex-wife was arrested and then convicted of paying to have her ex-husband murdered.
Cast
Lady Gaga and Adam Driver will be playing Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci. Joining them are Jared Leto, Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, and Salma Hayek.
Filming and Release
Filming started in Rome in late February 2021 and was done in Florence, Lake Como, Milan, and the Italian Alps. Production wrapped up in May and the movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 24, 2021.
