Social media filters have gone way past flower crowns and doggy faces, there are ones that get rid of acne, scars, and freckles, making it hard to differentiate between real and fake. But the latest trend is moving towards the more natural and calling out edited selfies, moving towards filter-less faces.

The trend involves using the “Filter vs. Reality” effect on Instagram that gives a split-screen so you can see your face naturally and with a filter that changes your eye color, lip size, skin texture, and more. Many of the videos are set to Alessia Cara’s “Scars To Your Beautiful,” which couldn’t be a better fit. People are also writing messages about embracing their flaws.

Even trainer Kelsey Wells has stepped up to the challenge, embracing what makes her flaws and talking about the importance of fitness for physical, mental, and emotional health. “It is tough enough to not compare yourself to others you see online please do not filter yourself so often and so heavily that you begin comparing the REAL you to you filtered. Filters can be fun but YOU are beautiful, just the way you are,” she writes in a text caption. “Tonight when you wash your face, look in the mirror and give yourself some love ❤️.”

There’s nothing wrong with filters, but it’s important to embrace everything that makes you unique and special instead of hiding behind it. Remember, you are beautiful.
