Have You Already Tried the Hair Plopping Trend?

When it comes to beauty trends, the best place we’ve been finding them recently is TikTok. TikTok is the social media platform where all the cool kids are and we don’t mind it; in fact, we love browsing it for the latest beauty hacks. Hair plopping is one of them and it’s perfect for all of us who what a new way to style hair without heat.

You may have already seen the hair plopping method around the internet. It involves wrapping your hair in a cotton t-shirt or pillowcase and letting it dry for several hours or overnight. The result is smooth, silky hair that you got without having to use styling tools that require heat and damage your hair.

Plopping is also useful for fighting frizzy hair. If your hair is curly or wavy, you’ll see how it can get a nice shape with no frizz when you use this method. Wrapping hair in a cotton cloth keeps it in place so it won’t rub against the pillow overnight, which helps prevent frizz.

whenever i wear my hair curly i’m reminded of my grandma. she loved my hair so much. she probably would have framed this photo 😉 when i straightened my hair (which was 99% of the time) she would question me in sadness. why do you do this? i love your curly hair. please embrace it. and when i would go over to her house with my hair dried naturally, she would come over to me and touch it in awe. running her fingers through it, she would shower me with kindness. i just love your hair, how big it is, please don’t ever straighten it again, you have no idea how lucky you are to have all of these curls. she made me feel so beautiful and unique, but i was younger then. i always shooed her away and told her nobody wears their hair curly now-a-days. especially my little self with this big and curly hair, i just couldn’t imagine walking into school like that. i told her everyone straightens it, i like my hair better when it’s thinner and tamed. nobody my age likes curly hair. but as i’ve gotten older i’ve begun to understand what she was saying to me all those years. she loved my curly hair because it was fun and bold, and i think she thought it was a perfect expression of who i am inside. it matched my personality well. and so now when i wear it curly, i smile knowing she’s probably looking down right now, saying thank goodness this girl finally came around! i’m so lucky to have had someone like that, a woman who i admired unwaveringly for her wisdom and her beauty, encourage me to embrace my natural self. curly hair and all, she wanted nothing more than for me to look in the mirror and appreciate and accept and love all that i am. i’m finally getting there now and it feels really good knowing that i’m certainly making her proud.
