Step off, matcha tea, there’s a new hit! Butterfly pea flower tea is all the rage right now, but is there more to it than perfect Instagram photos?

This tea is not a new thing. Blue Tea, as it’s also known, is made from Butterfly pea flower petals. It comes from South East Asia, and it’s a popular caffeine-free alternative to green and black teas.

Undoubtedly, it’s very photogenic, but it also comes with many health benefits. Butterfly pea flower tea has been a part of Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. Its taste can be described as “earthy,” somewhat similar to unsweetened green tea. It can be consumed hot or cold.

Lately, Butterfly pea flower tea has become very popular on social media. Plain tea is blue but it can change colors when other ingredients are added. For example, it turns purple with a squeeze of lemon juice.

Doesn’t it look tempting? A cup of this gorgeous blue tea is a great way to celebrate the beginning of fall and open the new tea-drinking season!
