Six years after Elena Ferrante published her first book from the Neapolitan Novels series, My Brilliant Friend, HBO partnered with Italian production company Wildside and Fandango Productions to take the adapt the story into a TV show.
Those familiar with Ferrante’s work know that the author’s identity remains a secret (the name is a pseudonym). She didn’t even meet with the show’s director and producers and it’s unknown if she will eventually.
The plan is to dedicate one season to each of the books from the series, which will result in four seasons. The official trailer is available below.
