Here’s How #StyleNotSize Blew Up on Social Media

While social media has long been associated with promoting negative body image, recently there’s been a huge push towards body positivity. One such movement that’s taking over the internet is #stylenotsize and on TikTik alone, it has almost 300 million views. The movement started with two friends who wanted to show the world that you don’t need to have a certain body type or size to wear a fashion trend or outfit.

Started by best friends Denise Mercedes and Maria Castellanos, the girls’ TikTok and Instagram accounts show outfits on two very different, but equally beautiful bodies. Mercedes ranges from a size 12 to 16 and Castellanos is usually a size two or four. They try on everything from bodycon dresses to jeans and crop tops. As Mercedes writes under the #stylenotsize page on TikTok, “Because style isn’t about size, it’s about the attitude!” We couldn’t agree more!

In addition to modeling the looks, which they purchase or are sent to them by a brand as a PR gift, the duo gives honest feedback about the quality and sizing of the clothes. They’re brutally honest about the items and they don’t hold back.
