If there is one thing that is absolutely for certain in this strange MLB season, it’s that Cleveland Indians pitcher Shane Bieber is going to win the American League Cy Young Award.

The 25-year-old starter has been practically unhittable over 60 games, posting eight wins, 122 strikeouts, and an ERA of 1.63. Those numbers are good enough for a “Triple Crown,” meaning that no other pitcher in the AL had more wins, more strikeouts, or a better ERA.

Bieber has only lost one start this season. Once he does end up winning the AL Cy Young Award, given to the best pitcher in the conference, he will be the fifth pitcher in the last 14 seasons to win the award as a Cleveland Indian.

Corey Kluber won the award twice in 2014 and 2017, Cliff Lee won it in 2008, and C.C. Sabathia won it as an Indian in 2007.

Considering how great Bieber has been, the Indians are certainly going to be entering talks with him very soon to get him a long-term extension and keep him in Cleveland for the foreseeable future.

Bieber will start Game 1 in the wild card, best-of-three series against the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
