K-pop experienced a huge boom all over the globe thanks to such groups as BTS, Blackpink, and Tomorrow X Together. Many of their members are sharing their solo music with the world this spring, and their solo debuts are proving to be pretty amazing and history-making.
Jimin (BTS)
While BTS is on hiatus, Jimin decided to use the free time on his hands to drop his solo album Face. It debuted at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart, while its latest single “Like Crazy” made history as the first song by a South Korean solo artist to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Jisoo (Blackpink)
Blackpink members Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa all released their solo debut singles in the past, and it was just a matter of time before Jisoo followed suit. Her first solo song “Flower” was released as a part of her debut single album Me, which became the first record by a K-pop female solo artist to cross a million pre-orders.
Suga (BTS)
Suga released several mixtapes during his time with BTS, and he’s now getting ready to drop his first solo LP. He’ll release the album D-Day under his allies on Agust D on April 21, and he’ll celebrate its release by embarking on a first solo tour across Asia and the U.S.
