Chances are that many of you are already familiar with hygge, the Danish lifestyle trend that took the world by storm a few years ago. Hygge was all about enjoying a cozy, comfortable, and mindful way of living, but the times have changed and it seems like hygge is slowly being replaced by its trendy little sister called “lagom”.

The Swedish term lagom means “not too little, not too much—just right”. This means that, unlike hygge, this new Scandinavian trend promotes a balanced and functional way of life. Lagom is the perfect balance between minimalism and cozy, and it that can be applied to home decor, work, food, and pretty much everything in our life.

To embrace lagom we don’t have to throw away our cozy rugs and blankets, and move all those plants and books from the shelves. We should, however, try to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle, reduce food waste, and recycle.

According to this Swedish concept, finding balance and harmony in your home can be achieved by getting rid of unnecessary things, using sustainable materials and only a few neutral colors, and adding some greenery. In the end, the key is to create and relaxing and positive atmosphere in your home, and life, while also taking care of other people and the environment.
