Lana Del Rey will be kicking 2020 off with her first-ever spoken word album.

The “Norman F***ing Rockwell” singer announced the news via a video on Instagram. Even though she only put out her latest album a few months ago, Del Rey confirmed that a brand new album will be heading our way on January 4.

The record will contain pieces of poetry that share Del Rey’s thoughts and feelings. She is planning on selling the album for just a dollar, explaining “I just love the idea that thoughts are meant to be shared and you know, they were priceless in some way”.

Elsewhere in the Instagram video, the singer-songwriter explained that half of the album’s proceeds will be going towards supporting Native American organizations across America.

“I had wanted to do it because in doing my own work in connecting to my own family lineage I was encouraged to also try to connect to the country’s lineage,” she explained. “This was a while ago, and it kind of informed the next album that I’d been working on. And I just really wanted to sort of pay homage to the country that I love so much by doing my own reparation. I guess I would say, my own reparative act.”

She continued: “So I know it’s a bit of an unusual choice and I have no reasoning for it other than it just feels right to me. And so for as long as my album, my spoken word album is distributed, half of it will be going to Native American organizations across America.”

Lana Del Rey’s new spoken word album will be released on January 4, 2020.
