Marvel fans are once again digging into X-Men casting chatter, this time after rumors linked Adam Driver to a new version of Magneto. The role has previously been associated with Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen, with McKellen also set to return to the character in Avengers: Doomsday. Because Magneto is such a major figure in the X-Men mythos, any casting talk around the part tends to draw immediate attention.
The speculation picked up steam on social media after Marvel scoop accounts began circulating Driver’s name. That in turn set off a wave of fan reactions, with many arguing that the actor has the intensity and screen presence to anchor a major Marvel role.
