Lately, many artists have been launching Las Vegas residencies, and it seems like this phenomenon is only getting more and more popular. It’s not like people need to be convinced to go to Sin City, but the newly-launched residencies justify the trip even more.

A concert residency is actually a series of concerts performed at one place instead of several different places like on a tour. And if there’s one place in the world that can host a number of residencies at once, it’s Vegas.

Among the stars with Las Vegas residencies are Christina Aguilera, who will perform 16 concerts starting on May 31, Cardi B, whose performances will be at a club that opens in April, Drake, who signed a $10 million deal, and Celine Dion, who will have her last show in June after an 8-year residency.

Why choose residency over a regular tour? Aguilera gave some very good arguments that include her family staying in one place for a change.

“I love my kids, I believe in routines. If they’re happy, I’m happy, but I had to get back to my heart and my soul and my fans and what I love to do best,” she says.

“I still want to see my fans all over and in Europe and everything, but how much easier for everyone to just come to one place and fill the venue with fantasy and love and excitement,” Aguilera adds.
