Netflix is All About Broadway Adaptations

Netflix can’t seem to get enough of Broadway. The streamer’s list of Broadway adaptations has been continuously growing and they have more in the works. So far we’ve loved Springsteen on Broadway and American Son starring Kerry Washington and we can’t wait to see the following adaptations that are coming to Netflix soon.

The Prom

Ryan Murphy’s film adaption of The Prom will tell the story of four Broadway stars who are trying to reinvent their careers so they head to Indiana to support a girl who wants to take her girlfriend to senior prom. The cast is super impressive and includes Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Andrew Rannells, James Corden, Kerry Washington, Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key, Joe Ellen Pellman, and Ariana Debose.

Lin Manuel Miranda will have his directorial debut in this autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson about a New York City aspiring composer that’s worried that he made the wrong career choice. The cast is incredibly impressive and includes Andrew Garfield, Alexandra Shipp, Vanessa Hudgens, Robin de Jesús, Joshua Henry, Judith Light, and Bradley Whitford.

The Boys in the Band

Ryan Murphy’s film adaption of The Boys in the Band will feature the Broadway cast consisting of Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Tuc Watkins, Andrew Rannells, Matt Bomer, Michael Benjamin Washington, and Robin de Jesús. The film’s about a group of gay men in New York in 1968 who are celebrating a birthday party and their night quickly falls apart after a guest from the host’s past arrives. It’s set to premiere on Septemeber 30.
