So no one told you watching Netflix was gonna be this way – but it’s all about Friends!

Despite the fact they have hundreds of new shows on their disposal, users of this streaming service repeatedly opted for this hit ‘90s sitcom, helping Friends win the title of the most binge-watched show of 2018.

This news comes shortly after it was announced that Netflix spent almost $100 million to keep this series on their platform for another year. Despite rich variety of original programing, syndicating old TV shows is crucial for survival of this streaming service, and the list of the most binged-watched shows of 2018 proves that once again.

Only two Netflix originals made the cut, while the rest of the list mostly consisted of the syndicated shows that originally aired elsewhere. Grey’s Anatomy came in second, while 13 Reasons Why took the third spot, despite all the controversy surrounding it.
