After bringing us to tears with “Drivers License” and rocking our world with “Good 4 U”, Olivia Rodrigo finally gave us what we’ve all been waiting for—her debut album Sour. Following its release on May 21st, this album easily debuted atop the Billboard 200, but this isn’t its only achievement.

Best of 2021

With 295,000 album-equivalent units sold during its first week, Rodrigo easily destroyed her competition with Sour. Not only did this album debut atop the Billboard 200 chart, but it also scored the biggest week of 2021, surpassing Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version).

Triumphant Debut Album

To make Rodrigo’s triumph even more impressive, Sour had the biggest streaming week for a debut album released by a female artist, breaking the record previously held by Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy.

Multiple Hit Singles

Sour started making waves on the charts long before it came out. Rodrigo’s breakout hit “Drivers License” transformed her into the youngest artist ever to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and went on to become the longest-running number-one debut single with eight weeks on top. Her latest single “Good 4 U” marked the album’s second song to top the chart, making Sour the first debut album in history with two no. 1 debuts on the Billboard Hot 100.
