The American Music Awards came back to Los Angeles last weekend, and the red carpet at this award show didn’t look as colorful as we’re used to. Long, black dresses were ruling the red carpet this time around, and here are five stars that opted for this look.

Cardi B

Cardi B switched things up while hosting this year’s AMA’s, but decided to paint it black with her first look. She hit the red carpet in a Schiaparelli gown with a sheer veil, and made her look even more dramatic with a golden mask, nails, and earrings.

Chlöe Bailey

Bailey also couldn’t resist hitting the carpet in a long, black gown, but her velvet Monsoori number had just enough edge thanks to its daring cutouts and thigh-high slit.

Madelyn Cline

Speaking of black cutout dresses, the Outer Banks actress also embraced this trend. She paired her Mônot dress with long, leather gloves.

Jojo Siwa

Siwa looked positively radiant at the AMAs red carpet in a long off-the-shoulder tulle gown with a sheer, ruffled skirt.

Carrie Underwood

Underwood hit the AMAs stage alongside fellow country star Jason Aldean, and wore a stunning long-sleeve black gown with a ruffled skirt and a statement belt for the occasion.
