True stories have always been inspiring movies and TV shows, and they’re going stronger than ever right now. Headline-making stories about famous celebrities, entrepreneurs, and con artists served as inspiration for some of the most popular TV shows of 2022 so far, and here are three that got everyone talking.

The Dropout

This Hulu mini-series starring Amanda Seyfried follows the trials and tribulations of Theranos’ founder Elizabeth Holmes. Her attempt to revolutionize the healthcare industry made her an overnight sensation, but her world came crashing down after the blood testing technology she was developing turned out to be a fraud.

Inventing Anna

Speaking of real-life fraudsters who found international fame during the 2010s, Anna Sorokin aka Anna Delvey also comes to mind. She defrauded banks, hotels, and high-society acquaintances by pretending to be a German heiress with a huge inheritance. Despite mixed reviews, this series is a huge hit on Netflix and it become the streamer’s most-watched English language series.

Pam and Tommy

This Hulu series was inspired by one of the biggest celebrity scandals of the 90s stars Lily James and Sebastian Stan as the Baywatch star Pamela Anderson and the Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, and it tracks the rise and fall and their turbulent relationship.
