From her viral hit “Calm Down”, her acclaimed Hulu series Only Murders in the Buildings, and her highly successful brand Rare Beauty, everything Selena Gomez touches turns to gold. A cozy Cabo Mexican blanket she recently snuggled up in is no exception—and she helped it become a viral meme and an instant bestseller, all at once.

Unless you went off the grid in the last few days, you’ve probably stumbled upon a photo of Gomez looking in the distance while wrapped tight in a cozy blanket. All hell broke loose after the popular social media page Pop Base shared the photo on X, formerly known as Twitter, and transformed it into a viral sensation along the way.

The post in question spawned hundreds of memes and almost 19,000 quotes on X, each one more hilarious than the last. People left such hilarious comments as “me waking up first on the friend trip”, “moms on Christmas morning watching their kids opening gifts they told them they weren’t getting”, and “the survivor after the end of a horror movie”, attracting tens of thousands of likes.

The blanket from the photo became as popular as the memes themselves. It hails from the brand Laguna Beach Textiles Company and actually retails for just $37 on the brand’s official website. It’s made of 100% recycled yarn, woven on wooden looms, and finished by hand by a family in Tlaxcala, Mexico.
