Over the past few years, we’ve been seeing a lot of trends that looked like they’ve come straight from our grandparent’s closets. Yes, we’re talking about vests, chunky knits, pearls, and babushka scarves. The latest fall must-have is another one that’s inspired by our grandmas—sweater sets. While they don’t look exactly the same as the ones your grandparents love, the 2020 styles still have the nostalgia vibe.

The version this fall is sleek tanks and cropped cardigans in autumnal colors. These sweater sets can be worn with anything from high-waisted jeans to tennis skirts, which happen to be another huge fall trend. They’re perfect for those days in between summer and fall, where it’s not quite cold enough to wear a jacket, but you still need an extra layer. And once it starts getting colder outside, just throw on a trench or puffer coat.

One of the best parts about sweater sets is that you have two looks in one—if you’re warm you can wear the matching top by itself and wrap the cardigan around your waist.

Sweater sets also transition seamlessly into spring and summer when they’re in softer, pastel colors. You have to add one to your closet this season!
