A tropical plant with a Latin name as quirky as its nickname (Monstera deliciosa), the Swiss Cheese plant is all over the place in 2020. It’s large, in charge, and loves to climb, which, combined with its characteristic fenestration (aka leaf holes), makes this one a true showstopper.

Musicians are no strangers to covers, and the music industry is no stranger to Miley Cyrus, but the singer who found fame on the Disney Channel playing the titular character in Hannah Montana, has been heading in a new direction these last few months—namely, rock n roll cover songs.

Just in the past month alone, Miley has performed and uploaded covers of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass”, Pearl Jam’s, “Just Breathe”, the Cranberries’ “Zombie”, the Cure’s “Boys Don’t Cry”, Britney Spears’ “Gimme More”, Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”, and Billie Eilish’s “My Future”, giving any song on the list that wasn’t already a rock n roll song a distinct rock vibe.

That’s not to mention that one of Miley’s older covers is currently finding new life, going viral on Tik Tok. We’re talking about the Arctic Monkeys’ “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High”, which she originally sang in 2014.

But wait—that’s not all. On October 21st, Miley also announced that she’ll be recording and releasing an entire Metallica cover album, so anybody who’s been loving this side of Miley is sure to be happy. Rock on, Miley.

Everything is weird this year, and award shows are certainly no exception. But when the nominations for the 2020 Tony Awards were announced on October 15th, people were left even more confused than expected.

What happened is that only 18 new musicals opened before the new eligibility cut off date for the Tony Awards of February 19, 2019. That means that there’s not a lot of competition for the awards. In fact, there are more awards to go around than there are musicals to receive them.

This was especially evident with the Lead Actor in a Musical category because only two actors, Chris McCarrell (The Lightning Thief) and Aaron Tveit (Moulin Rouge!), were even eligible to be nominated. As a result, only Aaron Tveit was given a nomination. So the ceremony hasn’t even aired yet, but we already know who will receive one of the most important awards up for grabs.

In fact, the award ceremony was postponed, but a new date hasn’t been announced yet, so it’s unclear when the live broadcast will even air. Talk about a bit of a messy situation. But, as they say in show biz, the show must go on. And so we’re sure it will… eventually.

Celebrities, like the rest of us, haven’t had great years, and Reese Witherspoon joined in on the trend. On her Instagram, she posted a photo caption, “Yup. #2020” with her Legally Blonde character Elle Woods, bright and overly optimistic in January, a concerned Elena Richardson from Little Fires Everywhere in February, in March things start to become less peppy, and by June she’s out in the wilderness as Cheryl Strayed from Wild.

Kaling was inspired by Witherspoon’s post so she shared her own version and captioned it “Pretty much. Inspired by @reesewitherspoon.” 

Kerry Washington was the next actress to join in and she captioned her post, “@reesewitherspoon @mindykaling…SAME.”

Soon enough, fans started jumping on board posting their 2020 mood calendars and tagging Witherspoon and Kaling.
