Red dresses were going stronger than ever at the Emmys this year. Sofía Vergara, Anna Sawai, Janelle James, Nava Mau, and Gillian Jacobs were only some of the stars wearing dresses in this color.
Baby pink was one of the most refreshing colors ruling the red carpet at the Emmys. Meryl Streep embraced this trend with a pink Alexander McQueen suit, and she was closely followed by Rita Ora, Aja Naomi King, Hannah Einbinder, and Eiza González.
Black dresses are never going out of style, and our favorite stars found a way to put a twist on this timeless color. Selena Gomez and Brie Larson wore black dresses with dazzling details, while Viola Davis and Reese Witherspoon hit the red carpet wearing black and white.
Silver dresses were shining brighter than ever at this year’s Emmys, and we owe this trend to the likes of Kristen Wiig, Gillian Anderson, Nicola Coughlan, and Ella Purnell.
We’ve also noticed several stars wearing dresses with layered or peplum skirts, including Nicola Coughlan, Brie Larson, Anna Sawai, and Susan Kelechi Watson.

After being ignored by the Television Academy time and time again, the final season of Reservation Dogs got the farewell it deserves—a nomination for the outstanding comedy series.
Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie’s black comedy The Curse apparently went over the voters’ heads, and even the recent Oscar winner Emma Stone failed to score a nod for her role in this series.
Prime Video’s adaptation of the hit video game Fallout is the type of a show that the Emmys tend to ignore, but it sneaked into the crowded outstanding drama field and scored Walton Goggins his second Emmy nod.
Kate Winslet previously won two Emmys for Mildred Pierce and Mare of Easttown, but her latest collaboration with HBO—the political satire The Regime—failed to yield the same success.
After ignoring Selena Gomez two years in a row, the TV Academy finally gave her an acting nod for her role in Only Murders in The Building, shortly after her triumph in Cannes with Emilia Pérez.
Many have expected Kelsey Grammer to score another Emmy nod after making a comeback as his most iconic character in the Frasier revival, but he’ll have to sit this one out.

After ruling the red carpet at the Golden Globes, red gowns made a comeback at the Emmys. Juliette Lewis, Suki Waterhouse, Katherine Heigl, and Sarah Snook were some of the stars wearing this striking color.
Wine-hued gowns, reminiscent of merlot and pinot noir, were all the rage at the Emmys. We’ve seen Selena Gomez, Rachel Brosnahan, Amy Poehler, and Taraji P. Henson embrace his craze.
Light green dresses were having a moment at this year’s Emmys, and we’ve seen the likes of Jenna Ortega and Hannah Waddingham wear them, while Jessica Chastain put a daring neon twist on this trend.
Many stars at the Emmys decided to bring some flower power to the red carpet in the middle of winter, including Meghann Fahy, Simona Tabasco, Jenna Ortega, and Ali Wong.
Several stars at the Emmys put “G” in glamour by wearing elegant velvet dresses, including Jessica Williams, Christina Applegate, Elizabeth Debicki, and Niecy Nash.

White outfits were all the rage at this year’s Emmys and the ladies weren’t the only ones wearing them. White menswear was just as popular, with the likes of Andrew Garfield, Seth Rogen, and Nicholas Braun putting it on the map.
Several stars brought Old Hollywood glamour to the red carpet in classy black gowns, starting with Zendaya, Elle Fanning, and Juno Temple.
Celebrities at this year’s Emmys were shining brighter than ever—mostly thanks to their dazzling, sequined outfits. Amanda Seyfried, Sandra Oh, and Reese Witherspoon were some of the many stars to embrace this trend.
Many shimmering dresses came in fall-inspired shades, ranging from brown to gold. Christina Ricci, Quinta Brunson, and Lily James gave us the most magical looks in these colors.
Speaking of colors dominating the Emmys red carpet, pink was going stronger than ever. Amanda Seyfried, Ayo Edebiri, Connie Britton, and Hannah Waddingham were some of the stars to embrace this craze, mostly in lighter shades of pink.

This Is Us used to be Emmy’s darling, but those days are long behind us. Its final season was largely shut out by the Television Academy, with Sterling K. Brown and Mandy Moore failing to score nods for their amazing performances.
Fans of Euphoria were pushing for Sydney Sweeney to receive an Emmy nod ever since the second season came out. She exceeded everyone’s wildest expectations and became a double nominee with Euphoria and The White Lotus.
Only Murders in the Building received a total of 17 nominations at this year’s Emmys, but the Television Academy didn’t show Selena Gomez any love for her performance.
Abbott Elementary deserves every word of praise coming its way, but it was still a shocker to see Emmy voters fully embrace this broadcast network series in the era of streaming.
It’s amazing to see Abbott Elementary get so much acclaim, but many critically acclaimed comedies weren’t so lucky, including Atlanta, Black-ish, and Reservation Dogs.
Yellowjackets is one of Showtime’s biggest hits in recent memory, but it was still a huge surprise to see it embraced by Emmys and receive multiple nominations for its rookie season including outstanding drama.

Anya Taylor-Joy makes the best-dressed list at every award ceremony she attends, and this year’s Emmys were no exception. The Queen’s Gambit star hit the red carpet in a classy Dior dress with a show-stopping yellow cape.
Coel delivered one of the most memorable moments of the night with her acceptance speech following her win for I May Destroy You. She also rocked our world with her daring Christopher John Rogers ensemble, featuring draped column skirt and crop top with an oversized bow.
Cuoco also hit the red carpet in a similar neon shade of yellow as Coel. She brightened up our day in an energetic Vera Wang gown with a dramatic slit and floral-embellished straps.
Emma Corrin always picks outfits that let her stand out, and she looked like a ray of sunshine in a mellow yellow strapless column gown by Miu Miu, which came with a matching swim cap.

Some of the most surprising nominations of the year hail from the outstanding comedy series category. PEN15, Emily in Paris, and Cobra Kai will be competing against obvious front-runners, such as Ted Lasso and The Flight Attendant.
Steve McQueen gave us one of the best anthology series of 2020 with Small Axe, with amazing performances from Letitia Wright and John Boyega, but the Emmy voters weren’t paying attention.
The majority of contenders in the outstanding drama series category were easy to predict, but it was a surprise to see Amazon’s superhero satire The Boys make the cut.
Kidman received Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations for her performance in The Undoing, so it was a surprise not to see her repeat the same success at the Emmys.
Seeing Hamilton score a nomination for the outstanding variety special wasn’t surprising, but the acting nomination for seven of its cast members wasn’t something we expected.

]]>The majority of award shows and film festivals have separate awards for “best actor” and “best actress”, but that’s slowly changing. Gender-neutral acting categories are becoming the new normal, and these three organizations recently gave them their seal of approval.
This year’s Berlinale was held virtually, but that didn’t stop it from introducing some big changes. The acting awards for best leading and best-supporting performance were introduced, in an attempt to promote “more gender-sensitive awareness in the film industry”.
About a year since Berlinale announced their gender-neutral acting categories, Spain’s San Sebastian Film Festival followed suit. According to festival director José Luis Rebordinos, this change “arises from the conviction that gender, a social and political construct, is no longer a criterion that we follow to distinguish between performances”.
Unlike the previous two festivals, the Emmy Awards won’t be margining their “best actor” and “best actress” awards into one, but they’re taking a step towards a more gender-neutral approach. Nominees and winners in these categories can opt that their nomination certificate or Emmy statuette carry the term “performer” in place of actor or actress, according to the Television Academy’s recent statement.

Zendaya kicked off her Emmy adventure in a geometric Christopher John Rogers gown, but that was just her first look of the night. She accepted her best actress award for Euphoria in ש sparkly Armani Prive with a polka-dotted train and dazzling bandeau top.
Laverne Cox also didn’t disappoint us with her fashion choices, and her magenta one-shoulder gown by Azzi & Osta was truly terrific. She delivered another amazing look in the jaw-dropping sheer jumpsuit with hieroglyphic details by Kim Kassas.
Washington also decided to make the best of her time at the Emmys by wearing two different gowns. She kicked things off with a floral Oscar de la Renta number before switching to Dolce & Gabbana’s sequined leopard print dress.

Schitt’s Creek swept this year’s Emmys and became the first comedy series to sweep the four main acting categories in one year, in addition to being the most-awarded comedy in a single year when we take Creative Emmys into the account.
HBO was also one of the biggest winners of the night, with Succession and Watchmen winning four awards each. Both shows do a great job capturing the current social climate, and the creative mastermind behind them delivered some of the best acceptance speeches of the night.
Zendaya made Emmys history as the youngest lead actress drama winner with her role in Euphoria, and her reaction was a true delight.
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow joined forces at this year’s Emmy Awards, and their reunion got everyone talking.
The list of famous presenters at this year’s Emmys was pretty much endless, but the ceremony will be remembered by the staff members who delivered the trophies in themed Hazmat suits.
