There’s a new film on the horizon that everybody is sure to be talking about in a few months. But you’re ahead of the curve, which is why you’re reading about it now. The film is called Sanctuary, and it’s a thriller starring Margaret Qualley and Christopher Abbott, two definite rising stars in the acting world. The movie, which wrapped production in New York, is directed by Zachary Wigon, who also made 2014’s the Heart Machine.

The story, which was written by Micah Bloomberg, co-creator of Amazon’s Homecoming, unfolds over a single evening, telling the story of a dominatrix (Qualley) and her rich client Hal (Abbott). Hal attempts to cut ties with his mistress after the death of his father and his soon-to-be inheritance of his late father’s vast fortune, but it doesn’t exactly go according to plan.

Just like the Twitter thread, Zola, starring Taylour Paige and Riley Keough, tells the story of a waitress who gets caught up in a weekend of partying in Florida that turns into a wild, two-day adventure that would seem fake if you didn’t already know it was true.

Critics are loving the film, with Rolling Stone saying it “capitalizes not only on the viral nature of the original story but on the flashpoint of our specific tweet and app-addled, gig economized, bats**t moment.”

If you’re not yet convinced you want to watch it, you should know that the film is being distributed by A24, the company behind massive indie hits like Eighth Grade, Midsommar, The Farewell, Moonlight, and Lady Bird.

In Free Guy, Ryan Reynolds plays a bank teller who finds out that he’s actually a non-player character inside a brutal video game. In the first trailer that was recently released, we see Reynolds’ character named Guy, a happy man who works in a bank, discover that the world around him is actually an open-world video game. His character is a minor one and his role in the game is basically to be shot at and kicked around by gamers. 

After learning the truth about the world he lives in, Guy starts rebelling against the role that was assigned to him. The movie was directed by Shawn Levy, who directed Night at the Museum. Reynolds stars in it along with Taika Waititi and Jodie Comer. 

“We really wanted to bring to the world a modern day Back to the Future for modern generations,” Reynolds reportedly said at Comic-Con Experience in Brazil. “Free Guy is my favorite movie I’ve ever made,” added Reynolds. “And that means a lot to me, because I made Deadpool.”

At the beginning of October, Netflix launched a trailer for the first original animated feature produced by the company. The movie is titled Klaus and it will hit select U.S. theaters on November 8th and be available on Netflix from November 15th.

The movie was directed by Sergio Pablos, the director of Despicable Me. Klaus is a hand-drawn movie, which adds to its charm and warmth. Besides doing amazing work as a director, Pablos is a successful animator whose portfolio includes characters like Tantor in Tarzan and Dr. Doppler in Treasure Planet.

Klaus is a tale about postman Jesper and toymaker Klaus who become friends in order to make gifts for children. The voices of the main characters were provided by Jason Schwartzman, J.K. Simmons, Norm MacDonald, Rashida Jones, Joan Cusack, and Will Sasso.

Disney has released the official trailer for the upcoming live-action movie Aladdin, a remake of legendary 1992 animated movie.

Guy Ritchie is directing the movie, while the cast gathers some interesting names — Navid Negahban as the Sultan, Frank Welker as Abu’s voice, Marwen Kenzari as Jafar, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, and Mena Massoud as Aladdin.

Will Smith as a blue Genie caused a lot of controversy and mixed reactions, but the trailer shows his appearance changing throughout the movie.

Judging by the success of the trailer, it seems like this is going to be a record-braking movie for Disney. Within 24 hours, the trailer managed to generate 116.4 million views, leaving Incredibles 2 behind with 113.6 million views in the first day.

Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey will be the first movie ever to broadcast in 8K UHD resolution. The movie will be played for the Japanese audience on the NHK TV station, as reported by BBC.

“Warner Bros was able to scan the original film negatives, repair scratches and provide an 8K version of the film that captures the power and beauty of the original,” BBC writes.

The 8K resolution offers 16 times better video quality compared to high-definition standard. The only problem is that not many people have the hardware that supports such resolution. For those that do, this will be a spectacular experience.

“The many famous scenes become even more vivid, with the attention to detail of director Stanley Kubrick expressed in the exquisite images, creating the feeling of really being on a trip in space, allowing the film to be enjoyed for the first time at home,” NHK said in a statement.

The Japanese TV channel will also broadcast My Fair Lady (1964) in March next year.
