Just a few years ago, we had to seek out printed magazines to find out what celebrities are wearing. With Instagram, taking live inspiration from the likes of Dua Lipa and Kendall Jenner is easier and more accessible than ever. Here are some celebrity Instagram accounts we’d take notes from every day.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa knows how to put together a good Y2K-inspired look that’s for sure. Take this ensemble for example—a denim halter top with a butterfly print, a pair of extra-large flares, and orange rimless sunglasses. One of the most flawless noughties looks we’ve seen.

Amandla Stenberg

Besides being a talented actress and musician, Amandla Stenberg also has an immaculate sense of style. She often elevates her casual laid back looks with amazing makeup or accessories.

Harry Styles

Harry Styles is constantly pushing boundaries and squashing gender norms when it comes to fashion. Feather boas, silk scarves, and pastel and print suits are all regular features of his wardrobe, both on and off stage.

The Hadid Sisters

There is no pair of sisters more stylish than the Hadids (the only competition are the Olsen twins). There are whole Instagram accounts dedicated to the most memorable pieces they wore and where you can shop them if your pockets are deep enough.

Lil Nas X

Lil Nas X’s Instagram is full of his signature flashy style that we love so much. It usually consists of vibrantly colored or patterned suits, cowboy boots, neon, and unexpected color combinations.

Facebook and Instagram have been testing an option to hide like counts on posts for quite some time, and they finally made things official. These social media platforms are leaving it up to you to decide if you want to share your likes with the world, in an attempt to reduce the pressure on users.

In an official statement announcing this shift, Instagram’s representatives explained they tasted if hiding like counts to might depressurize people’s experience, and came to different results. “What we heard from people and experts was that not seeing like counts was beneficial for some, and annoying to others, particularly because people use like counts to get a sense for what’s trending or popular, so we’re giving you the choice.”

Each Instagram and Facebook user can now decide what works for them and choose if they want to see the number of likes on their own and other users’ posts. Instagram is hoping this innovation will put focus on the content, empower people, build self-awareness and shape a more positive experience.

If you want to hide your likes, simply head to Settings and look for the new Posts section. If you tick this option, it will apply to all the posts on your feed, but you can also opt for hiding likes on individual posts, by selecting the three dots in the upper right corner above a post and finding the option “hide like count”.

So many things changed over the past year and we got many new trends that reflect the “new reality” we’re living. While we’re waiting for the pandemic to pass and for life to return back to normal, we can’t help but wonder which trends are temporary and which will stick in the years to come. One of them is very hot on social media right now—you’ve probably noticed people using the hashtag #feelgood more than ever before.

What’s the deal with #feelgood? Is it a well-intended movement or more of a cry for help? We can all agree that we haven’t always felt good during the uncertainty and fear of the pandemic, but many people are doing their best to claim back their lives and to find happiness in little things.

The past 12 months made us take a good hard look at ourselves and ask ourselves what we really want out of life. When everything we had became uncertain, it became clear that we can only rely on ourselves and that in order to progress in life, we must find the driving force and things that inspire us to strive forward.

The #feelgood trend is also partially connected to the body positivity movement and feeling good in our bodies. With or without social media and viral hashtags, it’s completely up to us to make each day count and to enjoy life as much as we can, because nobody can predict all the things that can happen and change it completely.

There are some big changes going on on Instagram and if you don’t already have the new features in your app you’re about to get them soon. Not all users agree that these changes are in the right direction, but we’ll have to get used to them if we want to continue using the most popular social media platform. Here are three changes you can expect.

New Post Button

The “new post” button is no longer in the middle of the bottom row when you’re in the app. It was moved and replaced with TikTok clone Reels. It will lead you to a page where you can infinitely explore new content.

Notifications Tab

Right next to the “new post” button was the notifications tab, but it’s also not there anymore. The same button now leads to a“shopping” section of the app where you can see the best deals from accounts you like.

Messenger

Another big change is that you can no longer use Instagram’s DMs for messaging. Instead, the same button now features the Facebook Messenger logo and leads you to the Messenger app because Instagram’s chats are now integrated in it.

There’s a new feature on Twitter and it will look very familiar if you spend time on other social platforms. It’s called Fleets and it’s Twitter’s version of Instagram Stories—instant visual posts that disappear after 24 hours.

Similar features have been a part of social networks like Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook, and Twitter’s new feature will be here very soon if it’s not already in your app.

Twitter has been testing Fleets since March 2020 in countries like Italy, Brazil, and India, and they have now decided they should include them for all users. “Because they disappear from view after a day, Fleets helped people feel more comfortable sharing personal and casual thoughts, opinions, and feelings,” the company explained in a press release.

Unlike tweets, Fleets don’t allow likes, retweets, or replies—you can only reply to them in Direct Messages. Their main use should be casual, for thoughts you don’t want on your account permanently. We still have to see how things will play out with this new feature and if it’s going to be as popular on Twitter as it is on other platforms.

The year is 2020, and we are all spending so much time on social media. This behavior has been encouraged by the pandemic and social distancing protocols we all have to follow. TikTok is one of the most popular social networks right now, but figuring it out can be confusing sometimes, especially if you’re not a high school kid.

For example, you will notice that some of the girls on TikTok are called “Heathers”. Just when you learned who Karens are, here comes another name that acts like meme. So who are Heathers anyway?

Heather is a popular girl (like in the 1989 movie Heathers) or a beautiful girl (like ing Conan Gray’s song Heather).

There are over five million videos that recreate a scene from Heathers: The Musical in which three people walk together and voice different parts, performing hand movements as they sing. The videos are so simple yet very entertaining and may help you understand the whole Heather movement better.

If you still haven’t caved, we recommend you download the TikTok app and see for yourself why it’s so popular. Like any other social network, it has something for everyone. It also has an amazing algorithm that will keep showing you more and more videos you like!

Celebrities are now more accessible than ever before due to social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok, but have you heard to Cameo? Cameo allows celebrities and athletes to record short messages to fans. It launched back in 2017, but it’s become popular during the coronavirus and Dennis Rodman, Abby Lee Miller, Snoop Dog, Lindsay Lohan, Carol Baskin, and Keanu Reeves are some of the many famous people using it.

For celebrities, it also offers a way to make money during the coronavirus, especially for those who haven’t worked on recent projects. Celebrities set their own prices with some videos costing as little as $1 and others like a video from Caitlyn Jenner costing $2,500.

To use the service and get personalized messages from celebrities you choose from categories including sports, reality TV, music, Netflix & TV, and creators. All you have to do is tell the performer what you want from your video in 250 characters or less. Your request gets sent to the performer and they can refuse and you’ll get your money back. By the way, the video lasts for less than a minute.

It may take a while for the celebrity to get back to you, but when they upload the video, you’ll get notified. You can share your video on your social media site.

In addition to messages to fans, Cameo can be used for celebrity endorsements, but not all celebrities are open to doing so. We think that if you’re looking for a unique, personal gift for a loved one, Cameo is a great option.

There’s a new feature on Twitter that allows you more control over who gets to interact with your tweets. The company’s director of product management, Suzanne Xie, announced a new update on January 8th, 2020 in Las Vegas, saying it will change the way people interact with tweets. We can soon expect Twitter starting to test the new feature that allows the poster to control who can reply to their tweets.

As expected, people are having mixed feelings about this, but the company decided to do it in an attempt to make the users feel safer on the platform. The new feature should help curb online harassment in the replies section as each person will have a saying in who gets to interact with them and who doesn’t.

Apparently, each Twitter user will have four options when it comes to replying settings and they will control the people allowed into the conversation. The options will be global, group, panel, and statement. If you choose “global,” you’re allowing everyone who wants to reply to your tweet. The “group” setting only gives the people you follow or mention reply to you, while “panel” limits those able to reply to just people you mention in the particular tweet. You can also choose the “statement” setting, which doesn’t allow any replies.

Thanks to Instagram, we got used to watching vertical videos. The platform has just introduced an option to post a landscape video on IGTV and we can’t wait to see what the users make of it.

“We’ve learned and grown a lot in this first year. In meeting with creators and viewers, we’ve heard about what they like – and what needs to be improved,” a company’s blog post reads. “In fact, that feedback has driven many of IGTV’s biggest changes so far. This includes the most important change we made this year: enabling creators to publish previews of IGTV videos to their Instagram feed, which added another way for viewers to discover IGTV videos. Since that launched February, we’ve seen viewers spending more time with IGTV and a surge of new original content from creators of all sizes.”

“We realize this is an evolution from where IGTV started – we believe it’s the right change for viewers and creators. In many ways, opening IGTV to more than just vertical videos is similar to when we opened Instagram to more than just square photos in 2015,” they write.

What do you think about landscape videos on IGTV?
