Taylor Swift Starts a New TikTok Trend With Shania Twain

Taylor Swift made her TikTok debut last month and in addition to recreating looks from previous albums and posting videos of her cats, she’s hopped on to some of the latest TikTok trends including the viral “Mama Said” one. And like all things Swift, the singer put her own spin on the challenge, giving a shout out to another country-pop icon—Shania Twain.

The Mama Said challenge is set to Lukas Graham’s “Mama Said” and Swift shrugged off the words “country girls can’t go pop”, calling out Shania Twain for paving the way before sharing photos and videos of Twain performing over the years. She captioned the video, “learned from the best.”

Not long after Swift’s video was released, Twain thanked Swift in her own TikTok and recognized another music trailblazer—Dolly Parton. “Thank you @taylorswift,” wrote Twain. “Paying this one forward to another trailblazer.”

In another video, which featured a duet with Swift and Twain, Swift called Parton “a queeeen!!!” “I have ceased to be a person anymore I have exploded into a cloud of confetti hearts,” Swift captioned her latest TikTok.

We love seeing women supporting women, and that’s exactly what these singers have been doing for years. Twain gave Swift her seal of approval when she transitioned from pop to country. “I think that everybody should just follow their heart and do their artistic best, and just enjoy their creativity,” Twain told ET Canada.

Parton also has been supportive of Swift. “She knew exactly who she was, she had her dream and she stuck with it,” Parton told PEOPLE in 2015. “That’s what you gotta do. I’m just so proud of her.”
