The Beauty Trends That Defined the 2010s

We’re quickly approaching 2020 and it’s time to look back at all the beauty trends that defined the decade behind us. So many things happened in the beauty industry that it’s not easy to get everything in one place, but here are a few of the 2010s beauty trends that stood out the most.

Dark Lipstick

At the very beginning of the 2010s, we embraced dark lips as something that is appropriate for everywhere and anywhere. The phase is now in the past, but it still redefined the way we wear lipsticks as we were left braver to experiment with colors.

Contouring

Somewhere around 2014, Kim Kardashian introduced us to the magic of contouring and the world went crazy about it. There was no makeup lover without a contour palette in their collection and it became a go-to way to do makeup.

Instagram Makeup

Another member of the Kardashian-Jenner family had a huge role in redefining beauty trends in the past decade. Kylie Jenner basically invented what we call “Instagram makeup,” and millions of girls copied her signature moves — matte lips, perfect brows, and a lot of highlighter.

Korean Skincare

Around 2017, the west became obsessed with Korean skincare and beauty. From 10-step skincare routines to a number of new products we never used before, we now wonder how we ever lived without sheet masks, essences, ampoules, etc.
