The New Designers You Should Get to Know From 2020 New York Fashion Week

This year, New York Fashion Week took place from September 11-September 16, and even though it took place virtually, it was still super exciting nonetheless. Designers showcased their Spring/Summer 2021 collections and while some big names in fashion like Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, and Ralph Lauren, didn’t show collections this year, there were a total of 15 new American brands that took the runway making their dreams of showing a collection at NYFW come true. We’ve gathered our favorite new designers and these are the ones you should know by name.

Theophilio

Designer Edvin Thompson of Theophilio’s Jamaican roots show through his collection which features bright, stand-out colors, lightweight fabrics like mesh and chiffon, upcycled materials, and fringe details. They’re the perfect combination of streetwear and class.

Frère

A favorite of Jay-Z, Michael B. Jordan, and Chris Paul, Frère is known for their classic tailored suits, and designer Davidson Petit-Frère launched a women’s line at NYFW. Based on his Instagram posts, we can see that the women’s line has the same focus to detail with some fun patterns like color block and marble in sophisticated fabrics.
