These Y2K Trends are Back, 20 Years Later

Back in the 2000s, we shopped exclusively at Abercrombie, American Eagle, Hollister, and Aeropostale and we begged our parents to buy us the hottest trends. Every decade’s fashion seems to have an influence on the trends of the future and these four items were seen on every it-girl during the 2000s. Today, they’re making their way back to our closets with some modern updates. Are you here for these clothes or do you wish they stayed in the Y2Ks?

Polo Shirts

Polo shirts with tiny or sometimes oversized brand logos on the chest were a huge staple in the 2000s and chances are you had at least one in your wardrobe. If you were anything like us, you had them in every color imaginable. In 2020, polos are looking a bit different with a variety of textures and fabrics as well as cropped looks.

Boleros

We’re not really sure what the point of a bolero is, but we ended up wearing everything from bootcut jeans to fancy dresses to homecoming and prom. Now we’re seeing cropped cardigans take over, and this time they’re buttoned and worn as shirts.

Bootcut Jeans

Who can forget BabyPhat extreme low-rise bootcut jeans? After all, they were a celebrity staple and stars even wore them on the red carpet. Thank god the updated versions are high-rise because we could never go back to low-rise jeans.

Denim Mini Skirts

We bet you had a denim mini skirt that was questionably short and that you’re parents didn’t want you leaving the house in. In 2020, mini skirts aren’t as mini, making them much easier to style.
