This is the Latest Food Chain to Jump On the Vegan Wagon

Right in time for the Superbowl, Hooters is offering wing lovers a meatless version of their popular chicken wings. Starting January 6, 318 Hooters restaurants across the U.S. began offering vegetarian versions of the wings which are made with a Quorn meat substitute. Quorn is a fermented fungus that’s high in protein and fiber, low in saturated fat, and it contains zero cholesterol.

The “Unreal wings” are fried and tossed in Hooters’ sauces and toppings like the other wings on the menu. They come in serving sizes of six pieces or 10 pieces and they’re available in any of the 14 sauces which include Original BBQ, Honey Thai Chili Pepper, and Classic Buffalo. The “Unreal wings” aren’t suitable for vegans as they contain eggs and milk.

“The rise of meatless options, especially at quick-service and fast-casual restaurants, has largely centered on burgers, and we’re excited to partner with Hooters to roll out the first meatless poultry item on a national scale in the US,” Kevin Brennan, CEO of Quorn Foods said in a press release. Carl Sweat, the CMO of Hooters, said the wings are “a healthier option without compromising on the full Hooters Wing flavor.”
